좋은 개념으로 잘 지어진 노인요양시설을 소개하고자 합니다. 바로 영국중부의 버밍엄에 있는 크리스토퍼 테일러 코트(Christopher Taylor Court )입니다.

Christopher Taylor Court for Bournville or Court for Bournville Village Trust is a housing scheme for elderly people. The project has a layout designed to maximise solar exposure around two courtyards. The scheme incorporates direct gain windows and mass walls with a selective surface. The scheme received a grant from the European Commission

버밍엄근처에 위치하며 노인들을 위한 요양시설로 프로젝트는 두 안마당 주변으로 태양노출을 최대한 하고자 계획되었습니다. 그렇지만 직접적으로 창과 벽을 통해 태양광을 얻는 것은 일부만 포함 하였구요.이 계획안은 유럽위원회로부터 승인,인정을 받기도하였습니다.

Christopher Taylor Court, Bournville, Birmingham. This sheltered housing project provides 42 flats

for elderly people. The building was designed so that most of the flats are in east/west terraces, with

windows and glazed doors on the south side. Glazed mass walls were also provided on the south sides to

collect solar heat (“"Trombe walls”"). Corridors on the north sides insulate the living rooms and they themselves are daylight. Dual use insulated sliding shutters reduce heat transfer from the mass wall when

not required, and insulate the glazing and expose the mass wall when required. External shading devices

were included to stop overheating in summer. 

42채의 플랫으로 이루어진 이 시설은 파트의 대부분은 동 ,서 테라스에 있고, 창문과 유리문은 남쪽에 면하도록 건물을 설계하였습니다.

유리축열벽또한 태양열을 모으기 위해 남쪽방향에 면하며,이를 통해 "Trombe walls” 즉 전면을 유리로 덮은 석조 외벽인데 이는 흡수된 태양열을 건물 내로 방출한다고 합니다. 북쪽에 면한 회랑,복도는 단열을 높이기 위한 것이라고 합니다.

필요할때와 불필요할 때 이중으로 사용하는 단열슬라이딩 셔터도 열을 차단시키거나 노출시키기위해 사용합니다. 외부차양장치또한 여름에 과열을 방지하는 것으로 사용됩니다.

이같은 방법을 통해 에너지절약과 불필요한 탄소 배출을 많이 줄이게 되겠지요.

Trustees have previously discussed the subject of FIT’s and you have approved a project to install solar panels on the roofs at Christopher Taylor Court based on a revenue return which largely depends on the FIT regime.

In reality, that is probably as far as we could go given that BVT’s own policy on solar panels is not to allow them in areas which are obtrusive from the public realm.

The roofs at Christopher Taylor Court are the only significant example of south facing roofs on our own stock which are indeed unobtrusive from the public realm.
