병원 내 감염과 디자인 8

 

 

디자인이 병원을 위해 할 수 있는 design for health care에 대해 생각해보는 시간,

오늘은 8번째 시간으로 영국의 병원 내 재감염 문제해결을 위한 Design Bugs Out 사업 중 Helen Hamlyn Centre, Royal College of Art의 Pulse Oximeter Design에 대해 살펴보겠습니다.

Pulse Oximeter는 맥박 산소농도계 즉, 산소포화도 측정기는 O2 clip이라 하여 병원환경에서 자주 사용되는 기구로 환자 치료에 자주 사용되는 이 산소포화도 측정기는 시간 당 최대 열 명의 환자가 사용하는데 내부표면이 청소하기 어렵게 되어 있다고 합니다.

 

이러한 문제점을 인식하고 Helen Hamlyn Centre, Royal College of Art팀이 보다 나은 디자인아이디어로 이를 해결하고자 하였습니다.

 

 

Problem:

an everyday item in patient care, it is used on ward rounds to measure blood oxygen levels. Its intricate design contains numerous nooks and crannies, making it difficult to cleaneffectively. In addition, patients are wary of the existing product due to its overly technical appearance.

 

Challenge:

a clip that can easily be cleaned between uses and is more patient friendly.

 

Solution:

the simplified design uses encased sprung steel to remove the need for a mechanical hinge. This enables a crevicefree form that can be easily manufactured as a single-shot mould to create a smooth, wipe-clean surface. It has also been designed

 

새롭게 Redesign된 Pulse Oximeter은 seamless silicone의 보다 단순해진 디자인으로 청소가 쉬어져 교차 감염의 위험을 줄일 수 있고 사용하기도 편리하다고 합니다.

이처럼 병원환경에서 일반적인 병원감염의 확산을 직·간접적으로 줄일 수 있는 장비, 가구 또는 시스템을 디자인함으로써 2차감염의 위험이 줄어들어 보다 쾌적하고 편리하면서도 안전하고 건강한 환경의 효과가 기대됩니다.
